MIAMI. USA: Two year old Emily Bland plays with her friend, one year old orangutan, Rishi, at the The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species (T.I.G.E.R.S), in Miami, Florida.
Born at the Jungle Island animal sanctuary in Miami just over a year ago, Rishi was rejected by the males in his group and brought to the T.I.G.E.R.S institute to be integrated into a new family. When photographer Barry Bland heard about this story he went to take photos of Rishi, bringing his daughter Emily with him. When Emily and Rishi met they immediately struck up an unlikely friendship.
